Script

Assignment:      Part 1:  Make a series of sit-coms using the script Types.

Part 2:  Edit you film using a multimedia computer

Optional:  Have a musical friend read the script and write a

                        theme song

For this assignment you will need:

            1.  At least one video camera.  If you have and use more than one it is

easier to get creative shots and/or close-ups.  You can achieve the

same effect by taping scenes multiple times.  Be careful if you choose

to film multiple times and splice together as the sound will be hard

to match and your tape may require voiceovers.

            2.  A multimedia computer with video editing software.

Most new cameras come with video editing software.  Apple is the

best and iMovie is easy to use.  Most new computers also have plug

and play now -- where you simply plug in your camera and download.

            3.   Make sure that you label (or MARK) each scene using a mini-white or chalk

board.  (SCENE 1, SCENE  2).  This makes it easier to edit your television

show.  You can download each scene and then piece them together.

            4.   If you don't have editing software or computers DO NOT mark you scenes.

simple stop your film between each scene and carefully tape the next

section.  If a scene requires more than one taping.  Carefully rewind

the tape and film again.  While it is much easier and you will be

better able to add fluff (sound effects, music etc, flashy scene

transitions) with editing software...it is not completely necessary.

HINTS:  In Act 1: Scene 1 where it says -- ALLOW TEN SECONDS OF BUSINESS FOR OPENING CREDITS -- think to watching your favorite television show.  When the theme song is playing at the beginning they usually have a set montage -- or set sequence of pictures that give you a feel for the show.  You can do this or you can just have the characters pre-acting their first scene.

FADE IN:  -- This is a camera creative suggestion.  During the editing process feel free to cut in, fade in or how ever you want.  This is usually the directors decision.

ALLOW TEN SECONDS OF BUSINESS FOR OPENING CREDITS. -- See HINTS above.

EXT.  FRONT OF SCHOOL - MORNING -- This scene takes place before school.  Feel free to change FRONT OF SCHOOL to any place you hang out at school.

(DAY 1)

(Erin, Isaac, Tarisha, Jeremy, Ashton, Michael) -- This tells who is in the scene in order of appearance.

Act 1, Scene 2 takes place in a classroom -- more students, "extras", may be used but are not necessary.
