Torie GibsonDr. Torie Gibson, Superintendent of Schools

July 14, 2021

Dear Amador County Parents/Guardians and Community members,

It is my honor to serve as Superintendent of the Amador County Unified School District. Our schools are marked by a commitment to educational excellence and are deeply enriched by a supportive school community of students, parents, faculty, and staff. Together, we work to assist all students in reaching their academic and social-emotional potential in preparation for success in our forever-changing society.

We know the past two school years have been plagued with stress for families, students, and staff.  Our number one priority is to provide the best education to our students each day.  We will start the 2021-2022 school year in our pre-pandemic schedule and commit to doing all we can to keep it that way.  We believe that students being at school every day is vital to their mental health, as well as being critical for staff to effectively carry out our commitment to education excellence.  Safety is a key factor each day.  We will continue to provide updates to families as needed to ensure proper information is disseminated in a timely fashion.   As we look forward to the new school year, we anticipate collaborating with you as we continue to provide robust and comprehensive educational and extracurricular opportunities for all students.

My husband, Mark, and I are excited to be a part of this amazing community and look forward to all Amador has to offer.  I ask that you reach out via email, phone, or in-person for any needs, concerns, or celebrations you may have.  My door is always open as we work collaboratively for all students in our county!

On behalf of the Amador County Unified School District Board of Trustees, I sincerely thank you for your support of our schools, and for the opportunity to work with you as a leader of this extraordinary school community. I wish each of you a wonderful and productive school year!

Sincerely,Torie F. Gibson, Ed.D.

County Superintendent Dr. Steven RussellDr. Steve Russell, Superintendent of Amador County Office of Education

Dear Amador County Schools Students, Staff, Parents and Community Members:

I am honored, thankful and excited to serve our students as the Superintendent of the Amador County Office of Education. Having had 39 years of experience in education and administration, I assure you that I appreciate the unique opportunity and the enormous responsibility that goes with providing leadership to our schools.

My guiding principle as your Superintendent is based on the belief that every child can and will attain the education and skills necessary to reach their unique potential and achieve a foundation for a meaningful and bright future. I am humbled and grateful to the voters of Amador County for placing their faith in me and I intend to work in partnership with our entire educational community to guide the Amador County Office of Education forward.

I have had the opportunity to play many diverse roles over my 41-year career, and those experiences have prepared me to lead our schools to meet the high expectations the community demands and our students deserve. This incredible journey has taught me to appreciate the work of educators and support staff, and to value the strength of a unified educational community.

Our focus in the Amador County Schools remains constant. We believe all children can learn. We care about each and every student, and we aim to show it by providing our best efforts as teachers, administrators, staff, mentors, and advocates. Our schools must continue to be safe places where students are engaged, challenged to meet the standards necessary for college or a career, and where fun is definitely encouraged. We want students to build productive and sustaining relationships, and know that our sole purpose is to support them as they become the productive citizens we know they can be.

I am excited about what is to come and I hope that you are too. Delivering excellence is still our top priority and I look forward to achieving that goal together.

Thank you,

Robert Russell, Ed.D.
