ACUSD/ACOE School Board Appoints Jared Critchfield as Interim Superintendent
The Amador County Unified School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Deputy Superintendent Jared Critchfield as Interim Superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Critchfield works tirelessly as Deputy Superintendent to balance the complexity of school finance with the needs of our schools, staff, and facilities. We look forward to his leadership as Superintendent as we strive to provide the Amador Gold Standard of education to our students.
Effective July 1, 2024, pending board approval, Jared Critchfield will assume all superintendent responsibilities as Torie Gibson leaves for her new role as superintendent of Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District.
Mr. Critchfield has served 16 years in ACUSD/ACOE, including 4 years as a Spanish teacher and soccer coach at Amador High School, 5 years as Principal of Amador High School, 5 years as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, and 2 years as Deputy Superintendent. Mr. Critchfield has spent most of his life in Amador County, leaving for only a brief period to pursue his education at Brigham Young University in Utah. He and his wife Sarah are the proud parents of four children, all currently enrolled in district schools. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Critchfield is actively involved in the community. For the last 12 years, he has coached youth soccer, basketball and/or tennis, sometimes all three in a year. He also loves supporting his high school daughters in their athletic achievements, serving in his church, and enjoying hiking in the mountains.
Appointing Mr. Critchfield as Interim Superintendent is a natural progression, given his lifelong dedication to the education and enrichment of Amador County’s children. We look forward to collaborating with him as a governance team in the upcoming year.
